New Year - New You

The New Year is always a great time to realign yourself if you have gotten off track.

It is a time for a fresh start with a a hope that all possibilities are attainable and life is bountiful.

We ALL have a greater purpose in life and if you have not yet stumbled upon yours ~ SIT quietly tomorrow and ask for guidance. Think about what brings you happiness and where you feel you have been the most service in life.

Whatever your beliefs may be - the QUIET always brings the answers to life's questions.

Reaffirm the positive in your life - that is the key to longterm and eternal happiness.

Why does the Caged Bird Sing?

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing.

                           ~ Maya Angelou

Making the most of your situation, however limited it may seem at the time, is truly an amazing gift

Understanding that, is a gift that can always bring you Freedom

Regardless of what your external circumstances may be, no one can effect your internal situation. You are the only one that has and always will have control over your inner peace and attitude.

No other person can truly oppress you.

You are the key to your own Liberty and to the Beauty that comes from you.

Let yourself Sing!

The Energizer

Women often put on many hats in their daily lives - Mother, Sister, Boss, Home Manager Extraordinaire. It is easy to get lost in the mundaneness of everyday life.

We all need to renew our purpose in life periodically.

Take a weekend to yourself to recharge your batteries and your renew yourself. Remember why you have chosen to do what you do for a livelihood. Remember why you have made the choices you have made.

On your own with no time constraints - Go down to a stream, take a long walk, sit under the stars, swim in a warm pool ~ drown out the everydayness and be with yourself. Remember yourself and you will remember the commitments that you made long ago that are still engrained upon your heart. Dust off the goals you have put away in the attic.

We all have purpose
Renew your belief in yourself and
you will renew your purpose in life

Random Acts of Kindness

Unconditional giving is an amazing service and a huge boost to your own emotional welfare.

Do something nice for someone but do not let them know it was you that did it.

  • Send a friend going thru a hard time an anonymous bouquet with an encouraging quote or note.
  • Make a certificate of awesomeness and send it with a little care packet to a coworker who always goes above and beyond.
  • Leave some clothes and toys on the doorstep or front porch of a single parent who is having a hard time this Holiday.

Giving to others with no credit awarded is true selfless giving. It is giving in its purest form; not tainted by the need for other's approval or desire for praise.

Giving in this way is very rewarding and you are helping another person in an amazing way. You never know, it may be exactly what that person needs to get through a rough patch or to stay on the right path.

To Bee or Not to Bee

That is the question.

Bees have an interesting social dynamic.

Queen Bee
There is only one queen per hive. Fertilized eggs become female (worker bees) and unfertilized eggs become male (drone bees). When the queen dies or becomes unproductive, the other bees will "make" a new queen by selecting a young larva and feeding it a diet of "royal jelly".
Worker Bee
Worker bees are female bees that are not able to reproduce. Nearly all of the bees in a hive are worker bees. They feed, bath and guard the queen, tend to the nursery, collect food, etc. Worker bees live from 6 weeks to a few months, they actually work themselves to death.
Drone Bee
Drones are male bees. They are kept only for mating. Because the drone has a barbed sex organ, mating is followed by death. Drones still alive in the autumn are expelled from the hive.

In Bee culture, the whole hive centers around the Queen Bee, all others are there to serve her and the hive. Unfortunately there seems to be a Trend these days toward the Queen Bee Syndrome.

The problem with this scenario is that we are not bees - we are human beings and we should act humanely and treat others with mutual respect.

We should not look at what others have to offer us but rather, what do I have to offer this world!
