In ancient Greek Olympics, women were forbidden from competing or even watching the games. Women first competed in the second of the modern day Olympics; held in Paris France in 1900.19 women competed in the areas of Golf, Tennis, Croquet, and Yachting.
Six American women were of those that competed in Tennis and Golf.

In the 2012 Olympics, 1,000s of women will represent the U.S. in the games. For the first time in Olympic history, they will participate in the Boxing competition.
