Women Race Car Drivers

NASCAR has allowed female drivers since its start in 1949 and several women raced that first year -  Sara Christian, raced in the inaugural NASCAR race but was unable to complete the race. 

After 1949 female racers were pretty much nonexistent until 1976, when Janet Guthrie participated in the 1976 World 600, finishing 15th -placing ahead of Dale Earnhardt. 

In 1988, Shawna Robinson became the first woman to win a NASCAR Touring Series event and in 2003 she would also use the first all-female pit crew for a race at Texas Motor Speedway.

In 2004, The Drive for Diversity program was founded by NASCAR and female and minority drivers became more prevalent.

NO Woman has ever won the Indy 500 but five women have competed-Janet Guthrie(1977-79),Lyn St. James(1992-97, 2000),Sarah Fisher(2000-04, 2007), Danica Patrick (2005-07)and Milka Duno (2007).
When I was doing the research for this post, all I could find I initially searched for woman race car driver was a bunch of inappropriate halloween costumes. Come on young ladies, we need more women in this career field!

Love Yourself First

Often during the whirlwind of the season of Love, we forget about one of the most important Loves of All ~

Loving Yourself

We must first love ourselves with all of our flaws and shortcomings before anyone else can truly love us. 

• Tell yourself every morning how marvelous you are.
• Do something nice for yourself on a regular basis. 
• Don't talk bad about yourself, even to yourself.
• Don't sell yourself short.  
• Be kind to yourself.
• Forgive yourself.

Loving yourself is the foundation of a stable, happy, well adapted individual who can then form meaningful, healthy, and loving relationships with others.

From Witches to Bitches

Throughout history, women that were free thinking or unconventional were labeled as Witches. They were often ostracized and in some eras, burned at the stake. The majority of these women had no formal ties to witchcraft. They were not typically performing satanic spells and sacrificing animals. They were unmarried women, midwives, healers, women with physical deformities...They were women who did not fit into the cultural norms.

Women are no longer burned at the stake as Witches - at least not in this Country!

Today Strong Willed women are labeled Bitches.

People are still threatened by a woman who does not follow conventional roles. Now rather than dragging them out of their homes and burning them at the stake; they are labeled a female dog. 

Don't label yourself or any woman in such a derogatory manner.
