RESPECT!

So often these days, I see young women that have no respect for themselves. They degrade themselves in public, claiming shock value or independence. It seems the mentality of many women, that if they degrade or victimize themselves before anyone else can - that somehow gives them power.

In actuality, it just gives away pieces of yourself and grants others the permission to treat you with less respect than you deserve. This leads to poor and unhealthy relationships, self worth issues and re-victimization.

If you don't respect yourself, how do you expect anyone else to.
Self worth is something that is not gained from other people or outside sources, rather it is cultivated from within. True self empowerment never comes from self deprecation.

Power Less No More

We give away our power far too often

Our low self image may have been because of someone from our past, but that person is probably not around anymore; so stop giving away your power to them. Cease the control they hold over how you feel about yourself.

Power, or the perception of it, is the true determination of fair and equatable treatment.

Women have historically been exploited or oppressed; not per se for their sex but rather because of their powerlessness.

Animals prey on the weak and weed them out in a pack, it is basic animal nature.

Make your self powerful by believing in yourself and believing in your worth. You will notice a difference in the way others treat you. Others respect you when they see you respect yourself.

Girls Can do Anything

I truly believe this! In this day and Age and in this Country, Girls have unlimited possibilities. There is not a field or profession that a young woman does not have access to, accept for maybe Navy Seals and SWAT Operators - and hopefully one day that WILL change. This has come about from hundreds of years of other Women Paving the Way

So if you feel offended at work, under appreciated at home, or generally frustrated by your womanhood; think about all of the women who have come before you and all the opposition they have faced. If they had not persevered we would not have -

Empowering vs. Enabling

It is an important distinction - one that I feel many women do not make.

Doing something for someone else is often quicker and easier in the short run than teaching them how to do something for themselves.

I think women in general are "pleasers." They don't want to cause waves or ruffle feathers. So in order to avoid conflict, they do too much for others when they should be doing it for themselves.

You may give them guidance when needed and help them at times but the measure of a STRONG woman is not how much she takes on but rather how much strength she passes on to others by teaching them and giving them the support they need to be the best they can be.

So whether it is teaching, coaching, supervising, or parenting - it is always better to empower someone to learn how to be good at something rather than doing if for them and enabling them to stay ignorant, weak, or lazy.

ProWoman NOT AntiMan

They are NOT Synonymous

Being "for something" does not have to mean you are "against" something else.

It is possible to want Empowerment of Women and the advancement of them without making it at the expense of men. The advancement of one class of people should not mean the oppression of another. How many wars would never have been fought if the oppressed had not then turned into the oppressors.

Abundance is not limited. Everyone benefits from equality. Individuals are then treated as such, rather than as a class.

Women will Advance in this country and in this world when they work together rather than against each other. If we could ever harness our collective power, some amazing things would happen.

EMPOWERMENT NOT BELITTLEMENT IS THE KEY TO ANY  ADVANCEMENT

Don't be a Crab

They say that when you put a bunch of crabs in a bucket to go to market, there is a very strange dynamic that happens. If one of the crabs starts to climb the side of the bucket to escape, the other crabs will pull that crab back down into the bucket with them. Sort of a one for all and all for one concept even in the face of doom.

My mother has done very well in her profession and is a national leader in her field. She has always told me - there are two kinds of women who rise to the top. One kind steps on other women to get there and the other pulls other women up with them as they go. She is the second kind of women and that is the kind of woman I have always aspired to be as well.

So what I say to women is Don't be a Crab.
There is not a limited amount of leadership positions or success slotted for women. We do not have to compete with each other for it. We do not have to put each other down, vie for attention, or sabotage each other to become a success. By doing so, we are just continuing to perpetuate the small leadership numbers and low morale among women in today's workforce.

Set the pace. Pave the way. Be the first one to change the dynamic in one of your tense female coworker situations.

What's Your Worth?

 ♦ BELIEVEVALUEYOU ♦

Self Worth
is a major component in any empowerment. When we don't believe in ourselves, it makes it harder for others to believe in us. Self Worth is about affirming the goodness in yourself. As silly as it sounds - say to yourself right now, "I like me." If you say it enough - you will start to believe it and so will others.

We are undoubtedly our own worst enemies. We put ourselves down, don't believe in ourselves, and limit our own possibilities. There are a variety of reasons WHY women do this to themselves but they are all very damaging. There is enough erosion of the soul with everyday living, we do not need to contribute to it from within.

Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, an olympic gymnast, or a high powered lawyer - Believe in your own worth and Others will believe in you!
 YOU ARE WORTH IT
